The Life of Ettore Sottsass

Ettore Sottsass was born in Innsbruck, Austria on the 14 September 1917. He grew up in Milan with his father who was an architect.

In 1939 he graduated university with a degree in architecture. After he graduating he served in the Italian military and spent much of World War II in a concentration camp. After the war in 1948 he returned to his home town of Milan and setup his own architectural and industrial design studio.

In 1956 Ettore Sottsass and Mario Bellini directed design at a company called Olivetti.
