Design Elements- Shape

The concept of shape in design incorporates 2D areas that are separated from other shapes or the background by lines and curves. Shapes can be depicted by the change in colour, a change of texture, a plain line and change in value. There are in infinite amount of shapes and they all fit into categories such as geometric, freeform, mechanical, complex and organic.

Geometric – These shapes can be describe mathematically and are regular and precise. These shapes are commonly found in man made things because they are easily produced.

Freeform – this type of shape is difficult to describe using mathematical definitions as it is irregular and uneven. These types of shapes are found in nature.

Five Point Star - This type of shape is very commonly used in early childhood classrooms as a reward for good behaviour, it comes in a golden colour and has a playground value of atleast twenty Dollars
